The spring weather is finally here to stay and the Atlanta area could not look or feel any more gorgeous than it does right now. Here at Lionheart Theatre, we’ve compiled a list of fun things to do in Atlanta, and the surrounding metro areas, this April. Grab your friends and family and have some fun in the sun before it gets too hot!
Art Festivals in Peachtree Corners
Art on the Chattahoochee Art Market at Simpsonwood Park
April 16, 9AM to 5PM
This free event includes a fun run, live music, food trucks, a kid’s zone, and so much more. The whole family will enjoy spending a day in one of our county’s beautiful parks, exploring unique vendors and artistry.
Wesleyan Artist Market on Spalding Drive
April 27-29, times vary
Admission to this event is also free, where you can venture through the booths of over 90 professional artists. Everything from fine jewelry to new art will be on display and available for purchase!
National Park Weekends
April 15-16, 22-23
All national parks in the country will offer free admission on the dates listed above. There are a couple of national parks surrounding the Atlanta area: Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site. Pack the car and take a day trip to one of these locations, or the other national parks in Georgia, to enjoy a free and fun day out in nature.
The Georgia Renaissance Festival in Fairburn
April 15 - June 4
Saturday and Sunday, 10:30AM to 6PM
The Renaissance Festival has finally returned and we could not be more excited. This month alone they are offering three themed weekends: opening weekend, a cosplay/pet friendly weekend, and a kids’ free admission weekend. We know it’s a little bit of a drive from Norcross, but we promise it is worth every second spent on the road. Follow their official website to learn more!
Treklanta: the Star Trek Convention in Atlanta
If you are a fan of Star Trek, or just science fiction in general, then you need to be at Treklanta. There are a number of featured guests, stars, performers and artists, among the Miss Klingon Empire Beauty Pageant and the Independent Star Trek Fan Film Awards. You’re sure to enjoy gaming and attending panels with your friends and peers alike.
Events at Lionheart Theatre
We’ve just wrapped up the amazing production of “The Foreigner,” but there’s more in store for your favorite local theatre. Starting May 5th will be our next production: “The Children’s Hour” that is directed by Allan Dodson. On April 15th, we are hosting a can’t-miss magic show performed by the awesome Bob Winstead.
