The Lionheart Theatre Company is excited to announce open, non-Equity auditions for our March 2026 production of “Dearly Beloved.”
All roles are non-paying.
Actors only need to attend one of the audition days. No appointments required.
Please bring an acting resume or be ready to list past roles, along with a current headshot or current photo of you that we may keep.
Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script.
Audition Dates:
– Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2 pm
– Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 6 pm
Show Dates:
March 13-29, 2026
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm
Sundays at 2 pm
Saturday Matinee on 3/28 at 2 pm
Casting:
5 Men, 7 Women – Ages 18+.
*Please note: Some roles will be doubled, with one actor playing two roles.
Overview:
Hilarity, Texas style! An over-the-top wedding, three feuding sisters and a church full of small-town eccentrics. What could possibly go wrong? In this fast-paced, laugh-a-minute comedy, the Futrelle sisters of Fayro, Texas – Frankie, Twink and their estranged sister, Honey Raye – are thrown together to pull off a family wedding. But it is not going well. Frankie’s oldest twin daughter is marrying the son of the queen of what passes for high society in Fayro and Frankie is desperate to make this wedding an elegant affair. It soon becomes obvious that Fate has other plans…This joyful Southern-fried Jones Hope Wooten Comedy about love, marriage, sisterhood and three hundred pounds of good, ol’ Texas barbeque will have you laughing all the way down the aisle!
Character Breakdown:
Geneva Musgrave (60s – Female): Owner of BoKoo BoKay, serving as the Town Florist and Wedding Coordinator. Feisty, no-nonsense.
Raynerd Chisum (40s – Male):
Family friend of the Futrelles. Works at the Dairy Dog, delivers flowers for Geneva, and LOVES weddings.
Tina Jo Dubberly (20s – Female) and Gina Jo Dubberly (20s – Female):
Tina Jo and Gina Jo are twins. Tina Jo is the Bride, who doesn’t love the “Southern Belle” theme of the wedding. Gina Jo is her Maid of Honor, and has her eye on a local delivery boy…

Honey Raye Futrelle (50s – Female):
Oldest of the Futrelle sisters, ’50-going-on-30.’ Big flirt. Going through “the Change.” She has been estranged from her sisters, and has just return to town for Tina Jo’s wedding.
Twink Futrelle (40s – Female):
Middle Futrelle sister, who is handling the catering for Tina Jo’s wedding. Eager to make it official with her longtime boyfriend of 15 years, Wiley Hicks.
Frankie Futrelle Dubberly (40s – Female):
Mother of Tina Jo (Bride) and Gina Jo. Wife of Dub. Youngest Futrelle sister. Often speaks to her deceased mother for guidance. Eager to throw Tina Jo a perfect wedding.
Dub Dubberly (40s – Male):
Father of Tina Jo and Gina Jo and husband of Frankie.
Nelda Lou Lightfoot (50s – Female) and Patsy Price (50s Female):
Nelda is the town psychic. Patsy Price is the Mother of the Groom, who thinks her family is better than the Futrelles.
Please note: The same actor will play Nelda Lou and Patsy Price.
Justin Waverly (20s – Male):
Seminary student, who is working as a UPS Delivery Man while in school. Gina Jo’s crush.
John Curtis Buntner (40s – Male):
Deputy Sheriff and Dub’s best friend.
Wiley Hicks (40s – Male):
Twink’s longterm boyfriend of 15 years who is reluctant to make it official.

If you’ve been interested in diving into the acting world, then our auditions in Norcross are the perfect opportunity for you! At Lionheart Theatre, we put on a new production almost every month, and each month is different. You’ll have the chance to try your hand at a number of varying roles.
Lionheart Theatre Company is always looking for new faces to join our continuously growing acting family. Your level of experience doesn’t matter as long as you’re willing to learn and have fun. The right attitude can bring out the best in actors, experienced or not. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs to audition.
The best way to prepare for auditions is to know your character. Yes, memorizing lines is important, but understanding who you are portraying is what turns a good actor into something great. Take the time to sit down and research your character. What’s their background? What motivates them? How do they change throughout the play? As you learn more, try to apply this knowledge to your lines.
You can also work on your lines with a friend or family member. Don’t just read the lines aloud; try to make them come to life. Exaggerate your emotions, and keep your facial expressions in mind. If you can find a way to connect with the character, don’t be afraid to let it show! All of these efforts will translate well into your audition.
Lastly, be sure to work on your confidence. Every actor starts somewhere, so even if you have no experience at all, walk into your audition with your head held high. Chances are, doing so will help you shake some of those audition nerves.
